Travis Scott Burns, born November 27, 1987 in Winston-Salem, NC, passed from this life into the presence of God and His angels on December 31, 2014 at University Hospital of New Orleans, LA at 1:52pm. He is survived by his grandparents, Debby & Jim Henry of San Diego, CA, his father, Scott Burns of San Diego, CA, his mother, Dianna Keshishian his sisters, Brianna Stanton & Tabatha Eaton, and his beloved girlfriend, Laura Biggs. Travis is also survived by many loving uncles, aunts and cousins. As a young boy, Travis showed a passion for helping and caring for animals. In fact, at the age of 12, he was inducted into prestigious IRBA (International Reptile Breeders Association). He was also a top fund-raiser for The Helen Woodward Animal Rescue & Adoption Center of San Diego. Shortly thereafter, he started his own company, "Sunfire Dragons", at the young age of 13. He also loved snowboarding, photography, baseball, deep-sea fishing, roller hockey, motorcycling, was on a semi-pro paintball team, loved muscle cars, and high performance motor-sports. His ultimate passion was to work with zoo-life, designing habitats for various animals, with climate-controlled environments, optimizing lighting and other facets of animal housing, enhancing the effects that the animal habitat has on their quality of life, proliferation in breeding and offspring, inventing and enhancing the housing and habitats for animals, to optimize life-span and quality. At a young age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was never ashamed or intimidated when telling others that Jesus is the only way to salvation. His life was needlessly cut short on Christmas Eve when he was struck in a “hit & run” accident. Injuries sustained in that accident caused the death of this 27 year old young man, who was filled with life, invention, creativity and adventure. His family draws comfort from the knowledge of his encounter with Christ, and an eternity in Heaven, with his Lord. Although the funeral service will be held in San Diego, there will be a Memorial Service for his friends & work colleagues of Premier Nissan of Metairie. The Memorial Service will be held at Grace Christian Center of New Orleans on Sunday afternoon, January 11, 2015 at 3pm at 1301 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70001, and will be officiated by Pastor Mark Gorman Arrangements under the direction of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, New Orleans, LA.
