Tommie Rodgers Fagan, age 89, died peacefully at her home in Metairie, Louisiana on Sunday, June 25, 2023. Tommie was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence Daniel (Dan) Fagan, her parents, Tom and Eugenia Rodgers, and her sister, Carolyn Rodgers Frame.
She is survived by her three loving children, Dan Fagan, Diane Sigle (Robert) and Mary Broadbridge (Eric), and grandchildren, Andrew Sigle, Anna Broadbridge Weckesser (Devin), Stephen Sigle, Kevin Broadbridge and Laura Broadbridge. Tommie was excited upon hearing about the upcoming birth of her first grandchild, Grant Thomas Weckesser.
Tommie was born and raised in Mount Hope, West Virginia. She received her bachelor's degree from West Virginia University. Upon graduation, she moved to Pittsburgh for her first job with Alcoa Aluminum Company. In Pittsburgh, she met the love of her life, Dan. He always said he adored her from the day he met her. She always said she fell in love with him because he made her laugh every single day. They were married in 1959. In 1971, the Fagan family moved to Metairie, Louisiana. After staying home to raise her small children, she restarted her career with a temporary agency and was assigned a position at Stewart Enterprises. Company President, Frank B. Stewart, recognized her exceptional abilities and quickly promoted her to his Executive Assistant, where she remained for 50 years! She retired in 2023 at the age of 88. She made lifelong friends during her 50 years and absolutely loved her Stewart family.
Tommie was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Church in Metairie for over 50 years. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a great listener and was always interested in the well being of others. She loved to dance and was dancing as recently as a month ago. The party didn't start until she was on the dance floor!
We will all miss her beautiful smile.
