Thomas Rouen Benit

Thomas Rouen Benit passed away at age 79 on May 2, 2023. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carol DiLeo Benit, his father Col. Dudley J. Benit, his mother Lucienne Rouen Benit, his brother Dudley J. (Butch) Benit Jr. and his grandparents Guy Rouen and Marcelle Ganet Rouen, and Leonce Benit and Mary Veau Benit. He is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews with special thanks to his niece Barbara Benit Krieger and her husband Craig Krieger, and his DiLeo in-laws, Charles DiLeo, Stephen DiLeo, Trudy DiLeo and Janet DiLeo Wade. Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1968-70 at Ft. Monroe, VA. He returned to New Orleans and graduated from LSUNO with a B.A. and M.A. in Education. He taught Social Studies in New Orleans Public Schools for 33 years, teaching at Ben Franklin High School from 1987 until his retirement in June of 2005.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 am in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
