“Suzie” was preceded in death by her parents Eva Köestler and Judge Geza Molnar and long-time friend Claude Kohler. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Eva and Joseph Mikes, and son Thomas Bagwill (Dana), who offer their profound thanks to all those, especially their three children, who showered Mom with love; grandchildren Chase (Meredith), Benjamin, and Emily Bagwill; nieces and nephews Steven Mikes (Celeste), Kristi Johnsen (Erik), and Susan Piglia (Brian), Dianne McBride (Jim), and Peter Bock (Jane), grandnieces and nephews Dr. Sarah Bautista (Christian), Dr. Alison Silva (Nick), Madison Mikes, and Kelemen Mikes; Alex Porter (Katie), Britt Johnsen, Mark Piglia and Elisabeth Piglia, Dr. Niels Johnsen (Sarah), Austin Johnsen (Karen); and great grandnieces and nephews Vera, Camille, and Tess Bautista; Otto Porter; and Julian Silva.
Welcomed with open arms by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart after immigrating from Graz, Austria in 1951, she attended Sacred Heart Academy before studying at Sacred Heart College in Grand Coteau.
After marrying Thomas Runnels Bagwill in 1957, she lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where she taught merchandising at Gulf Park College and was active in Little Theater.
After Hurricane Camille, she moved to New Orleans where she worked as a buyer for D.H. Holmes and Maison Blanche and a store manager at Leon Godchaux. Her professional career also included work at The White House in Beaumont, Texas and 22 years at Saks Fifth Avenue New Orleans.
She was a long-time and dedicated volunteer with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra where she proudly served as president of Symphony Volunteers and coordinator of The Encore Shop. She also served as a docent at the Historic New Orleans Collection and was active in the New Orleans Hungarian community.
Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, Nov. 20, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. A funeral Mass and interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to LPO Symphony Volunteers or Academy of the Sacred Heart.
