Shirley Rosenberg Axinn Watsky

Shirley, known as “Shirl the girl”, died in the early morning of Sunday, March 12, 2023. She was the beloved wife of the late Martin S. Watsky, daughter of the late Herman Rosenberg and Tillie Loeb Rosenberg, sister of the late Melvin Rosenberg, and dear friend of the late Robert (Uncle Bob) Pepino. Shirl is survived by her three children Jerry Axinn (Mary Jo Martino Axinn), Alexander Axinn (Milena Cajina Axinn), Evelyn Axinn Meyers (Mike Meyers), and “adopted son” Richard Brooks (Patti). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Tobin Meyers (Ashley Macejko Meyers), Jack Meyers, and Kevin Axinn. Shirl is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Shirl was born and raised in New Orleans, and attended LSU and the University of Alabama, where she received her Bachelors. She enjoyed working for the federal court house where she helped naturalize citizens for many years. She was a social butterfly, always enjoying a gathering, and she was an avid and loyal Saints fan. She will be greatly missed.
