Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 28, 1923 to the late William C. and Mary Lacey Osborne, Shirley is also preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Sipes and his son Cleatice A. Sipes; her sister, Vera LaBiche and her brother, William Osborne, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Mizell Adragna (Michael), her son, Ronald James Mizell (Susan), her daughter-in-law Nelda Sipes, her grandchildren, Amanda Adragna Crettet of Covington, Bonnie Adragna (Erin) of Metairie, Jon Mizell (Amanda Grace) of Georgia, Emily Mizell Ladner (Ryan) of Hattiesburg, Mickey Adragna (Rebecca) of (New Orleans), Jeffrey Adragna (Sheri) of Houston and William Mizell (Angela) of (New Orleans); Steve Sipes (Chela) of Florida, Shelly Sipes Snead (Art) of North Carolina, Scott Sipes of California; her great-grandchildren, Cody, Caeley, Conner, Asher, Everly, Charlotte, Harrison, Isabella, James, Audrey, John William, Michael, Olivia, Owen, Henry, Charlie, DeAnne, Dolan, Dale, Daniel, Silas, Josiah, Samuel and Savanna; and her brother, Thomas L. Osborne (Joyce).
Shirley had an early career as a Government Secretary for the Food and Drug Administration and was a graduate of Redemptorist High School and Soulé College. She had many accomplishments in life, including the winner of a state Catholic religion essay contest, awarding her a full scholarship to Dominican College. She was a Life Master and member of the American Contract Bridge League, a longtime member of “The Shady Oaks Garden Club,” a former member of the “Petals of North Bridgedale Garden Club” and a former volunteer at East Jefferson Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass held at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. in Metairie, Louisiana on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at church at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124.
