Sheila Bayer

Sheila Bayer passed away peacefully at her home in Slidell, LA on June 6, 2022 at the age of 90. Sheila was born on May 17, 1932 in London, England. She emigrated to the United States after WW2 and was a resident of New Orleans, LA and Slidell, LA.

She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years. As the matriarch of our family, she was most proud of her role as devoted and loving wife, mother, and MeMaw. She is finally reunited in Heaven with the love of her life, her husband of 58 years, Warren R. Bayer.

Left to cherish her memory are her seven children and their families: Warren R Bayer, Jr.(Revill Bayer), Randy Bayer, Linda Bayer Krefft (Dr. Thomas Krefft), Gary Bayer (Shelley Bayer), Donna Bayer Lantero (Paul Lantero), Bonnie Bayer, and Sheila Bayer Rockwell (Robert Rockwell, III). Sheila will be especially missed by her 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, to whom she was a loving and generous MeMaw.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA, on Monday, June 13, 2022. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 a.m.- 12:00p.m., followed by a short service. Private internment will be in Metairie Cemetery.
