Sharon Brown Lassetter passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 at the age of 79 surrounded by her closest family. Her challenging and difficult journey on this earth ended, and she went to be with Our Lord to rest peacefully in His arms. Sharon was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 3, 1943 to the late Ernest Earl Brown and Ophelia Adams Brown. Her brother Elliot Brown and sister- in- law Kay Brown also precede her in death. Sharon is survived by her son Lance Lassetter; sister Marsha Brown (Tim); nephews Scott Roussel and Elliot E. Brown; niece/Godchild Karie Brown (Mike); great nephews Trevor Roussel and Austin, Collin and Ethan Brown. In 1977, Sharon was involved in a severe automobile accident but her tenacious and fighting spirit, which was present during that time continued to carry her throughout her life. Sharon endured living with brain stem damage, being totally disabled, blind, unable to feed herself and in the final years had Parkinson’s; and yet, never complained. She was a huge blessing to Marsha and Tim who loved and cared for her daily and nightly. Marsha made sure Sharon remained in her home and says Sharon made her a better person. Tim was her rock and there whenever she needed him. Sharon held a special place in her caregivers’ hearts; they all became extended family:
Lori Carter Lawson (Kenneth); Keyana McCormick (Arthur), Patrah James and her daughter Isis, Danica Miller (Louis) and daughter Ligaya, Sandra Rahman, Felicita Tayong and Cleo Hippolito. Special love to Mama Grace Rahman and Sharon’s best friend Judy Legett-Martin who always visited her. Thanks to Penny Lefevre who came to her house regularly to do her nails, and Ivanilda Santana who came to cut her hair for years; The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Egan at Home Caregivers, Peter Egan and Joe Lasko; Doctors Matthew Schuette and Michael Happel and Notre Dame Hospice, specifically Nurse Deb and Bather Mimi.
Sharon was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici and received Holy Communion on a weekly basis at home from Carolyn for many years. Sharon loved singing karaoke, laughing and harassing you in a joking manner. Her intelligence shined brightly through all her years until the day of her passing. She was fun to be with and a blazing warrior when it came to wanting to live life. She never let her condition overtake her.
