Beloved aunt, sister and daughter, Sara Francisca Morales was welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord on May 10, 2018 in New Orleans. Born October 4, 1950 in Guatemala City, Guatemala, Sara lovingly dedicated her life to her family. She is credited with helping to raise her nieces, nephews and siblings and nurturing and instilling the importance of love, family and the strength of prayer. She was a second mother to all of them and maintained a special bond with each of them into adulthood.
Sara was preceded in death by her father Julian Alfonso Morales, and she is survived by her mother Lily Morales; her sisters María Elisa Morales, Gloria Poche (David Poche) Gilda Rebecca Morales, Flor M. Torres (Carlos Torres) and Alfonso Morales (Maria Sotomayor Morales); her nieces and nephews Vanessa Stubbs (Kevin Stubbs), Hector Contreras (Sandy Gomes), Carlos Torres, Jessica Hernández (Cristhian Hernandez), and Christy Morales; and her grandniece Allessandra Stubbs, and grandnephews Julian Stubbs, James Stubbs, Jack Stubbs, and Sebastian Contreras.
Sara was a very devout Catholic and was a member of Divine Mercy Parish. She was an ardent believer in Father Francis Seelos and found great peace visiting his shrine.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. on May 18 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home with a mass to follow at 1 p.m. In lieu flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in honor of Sara to Mensaje, a ministry of the Archdiocese of New Orleans or The National Shrine of Father Francis Seelos.
