Ryan Christopher Diaz passed away on November 18, 2020. He was 26 years old. Ryan is the son of Nellie Quiroz-Diaz and Claro Diaz. Along with his parents, he is survived by his brother, Tony Diaz, his sister, Gabi Diaz, his brother-in-law, Nathan Leigh, his adoring grandparents, Antonio and Nellie Quiroz, and many cousins, aunts, and uncles, who miss him every day. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Claro and Felicidad Diaz, his uncle, Jorge Diaz, and his cousin, Joseph Quiroz Campbell.
The youngest of three siblings, Ryan was born in Galveston, Texas, grew up in Germantown, Tennessee and lived in Houston, Texas when he passed away. He graduated with honors from both Christian Brothers High School and Georgia Tech.
Ryan was known for his affable nature, humorous insight, and kind and caring heart. At his Confirmation, he chose St. Joseph as his patron saint in remembrance of his late infant cousin. While living and working in New Orleans, Ryan was affectionately nicknamed "our driver" by his grandparents, whom he would often take to church, to run errands, and to family gatherings. Ryan loved cooking, pop culture, all things tech, and spending time with family, friends, and his loyal red Siberian Husky, Yuri.
He will be remembered for his warm hugs, sweet smile, and love of all creatures, great and small. He had a soft spot for all animals, particularly Yuri, so any kindness toward an animal in his memory would be appropriate.
The world is not always a gentle place. But Ryan was a gentle soul. He was compassionate and kind. Ryan had a beautiful, sweet nature and golden heart that would reach out to those who were troubled. In an essay he once wrote, his goal was to become a Not Quite Super but still Exceedingly Exceptional Human who would make the world a better place just by being a better human. He accomplished that goal. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him and loved him.
Funeral services will be held for family and close friends on Friday, December 11th at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
