Roy was married for 47 years to the love of his life, Joan Ann Markey Lund, who preceded him in death.
Although he spent countless years as an electrician for the Times Picayune, his true source of joy was time spent in his multiple car clubs with fellow auto enthusiasts. He was the proud original owner of a 1966 Ford Fairlane. Roy spent countless hours, days, and years restoring it with his son, Roy Lund, Jr. He especially enjoyed driving it to Cruisin’ on the Coast and other weekly car events.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Roy will be missed greatly by his family.
Roy is preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Ann Markey Lund; his father, Francis R. Lund; and his mother, Claudia M. “Sis” Lund.
He is survived by his son, Roy Harold Lund Jr. (Sharon); his daughter, Sharon Marie Lund; his sister, Diane Lund Willmott (the late Tom Willmott); brother, Dennis G. Lund (Lisa); and his grandchildren, Blaine Austin Lund and Chase Michael Lund.
A memorial gathering will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home at 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 10am – 12pm followed by a Catholic graveside inurnment at 12pm in Metairie Cemetery.
