Guste, Sr. and mother, Beverly Clare Taylor; his sister, Susan Anne Guste; and his brothers, Taylor Patrick and Robert Peter Guste (Bobby).
Following Roy's graduation from Jesuit High School, he spent time at LSU studying architecture then transferred to Loyola to continue his undergraduate studies. From there, Roy took interest in the culinary arts because of his rich family origin in cuisine.
He then graduated from "Le Cordon Bleu" International Culinary School in Paris and returned home to become proprietor of his family owned restaurant "Antoine's". He is the great great grandson of the late Antoine Alciatore (5th generation), who founded the restaurant in 1840.
With his classical culinary training, Roy is best known for his twelve published cookbooks on our local cuisine. He wrote with passion. In his later years, he returned to his love for photography. He captured photos of New Orleans with his artful eye. Generations to come will truly enjoy his view of New Orleans through his writings and photographs.
He will be missed by his many friends and family, but through all of his heart-warming works he will always remain with us. New Orleans will always love and dearly remember Roy Guste. Due to Covid, a private family ceremony will be held at Metairie Cemetery. A Celebration of Life and viewing of Roy's many photographs will be announced at a later date.
