Robin Berckes Richmond

Robin Dale Berckes Richmond passed away at her home in Metairie on February 2nd 2023 at the age of 98. Mrs. Richmond was born in New Orleans to Mary Louise Odendahl Berckes and Herbert Christian Berckes on November 30th, 1924. She was married to the late R. Randolph Richmond, Jr., for 70 years. She is survived by two children, Pamela Richmond Burck and Robert R. Richmond, III (Clair), as well as five grandchildren: Christian Richmond Burck (Jennifer), Robert R. Richmond, IV, Robin Marlette Burck, C. Miller Richmond (Danielle), and Elizabeth Burck Guiza (Timothy). She is also survived by six great grandchildren: Julian Richmond Burck, Henry Labourdette Burck, Edward Aviragnet Burck, John Wesley Richmond, Hailey Elizabeth Guiza, and Powers Clark Guiza.

Mrs. Richmond was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, having graduated from Louise S. McGehee School before attending Newcomb College. She reigned as Queen of the Prophets of Persia in 1946, becoming the organization’s first queen after World War II. She also was a proud member of the Orleans Club for more than 75 years and was part of Le Petit Salon. Mrs. Richmond was a passionate supporter of many charitable causes, including Animal Rescue New Orleans and The Humane Society. She always was the consummate host and loved to entertain, opening her Old Metairie home to many friends and genealogical organizations. She and her late husband also shared a love of collecting art and traveling.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, La. on Wednesday February 8, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Metairie Cemetery.
