Robert Gagné, businessman, former academician, and friend to many in the community - died on February 18, 2013 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 64. The Gulf Coast has lost one its great entrepreneurs, and a unique and cherished community leader. Robert was dearly loved and affected the lives of so many of us as he taught us to chase our dreams and believe in ourselves.
Gagné was a successful businessman in California and the founder of Maxdem, Inc., a technology company in San Dimas, California. He came to the Gulf Coast in 2000 and was active in the Southern Mississippi business community as CEO and Chairman of the Board at Mississippi Polymer Technologies, Inc. (MPT). He took MPT on a memorable ride as it went from a startup to a successful high-tech company with over 50 employees. He went on to found and serve as Chairman of the Board at MAC, LLC, a current leader in the development and commercialization of lightweight, polymer-based solutions for military and aerospace markets. MAC is active today and located in Port Bienville Industrial Park near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
Gagné quietly supported numerous business ventures and consulted with friends and business associates on a regular basis, always looking for solutions and creative ways to move projects, businesses, and the individuals involved – forward. Robert Gagné’s most recent startup company, NOLA Bodycare, a skin care manufacturer, was one he was deeply involved with from developing the fragrances, to designing the logo and packaging of the products. He worked very closely with his team in New Orleans and was a dear friend to each of them. NOLA Bodycare was in a very early stage of development at the time of his passing. He was much more than an investor, but a key figure in perfecting each product and pushing the company towards its full potential. Robert requested that there not be a memorial service commemorating his death but asked that his friends and family celebrate his life and continue his legacy of helping others. Condolences may be expressed online at www.schoencanalstreet.com Arrangements under the direction of Schoen Funeral Home, New Orleans, LA.
