Rhonda Diane Teel

When Rhonda first appeared in this world at West Jefferson Hospital on August 30th 1960, Dr. Ribando held her up for me to see and said, "Dixie, here's your little girl." I had jokingly told him all during my pregnancy that if it was a boy, he could keep him. I already had a son, four year old Randy, and I *really* wanted a girl... and I got her, a real girly girl.

Rhonda took 6 years of dance at Giacobbe School of Dance and was excellent at all types of dance. She loved music and was always the life of the party. She loved giving gifts and always knew the exact gift to give anyone, along with the perfect card. She did everything to excess... including drugs. She went through rehab dozens of times, but it never took. The last time was January of this year and the family had high hopes. But on March 17th her body finally gave out from the years of drug use and she left us. For me that will always be the day the music died. With all her problems, she could always make us laugh and fill us with joy. My only consolation is now she is free of pain and is at peace.

She was predeceased by her brother Randy Teel, her father Toby Teel, her beloved stepfather Dan Becker, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Survivors are her mother Dixie Becker, her two daughters Bianca Rivera Ziegler (Andrew) and Bee Teel and three grandchildren Lennox, Ambrose, and Cassius, nephew Billy Teel (Laura), stepsister Celeste Nillen, step brothers Daniel Becker (Tasha) and Walter Nillen. Rhonda, this is to you. I will sing the Shoemaker’s Shop to you every night just as I did when you were here with us. I believe that you will hear it and I hope you will always have music.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La. 70124 with a Celebration of Rhonda’s Life Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
