Raymond “Ray” Lee Yates, Sr. passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the age of 77. Beloved husband for 54 years to Lois Couvillion Yates. Loving father of the late Raymond Lee Yates, Jr. and Barbara Jean Yates Stroyewski. Grandfather of Ryan Yates (Allie Barfield), Rachel Yates, and Chad Stroyewski. Great grandfather of Chad Stroyewski, Jr. and Carson Stroyewski. Brother of Edward Yates (Dot), Norman Yates (Arlis), Lanelle Moore, Faye Cullom (Alvin), and the late Martha Howe, Rosemary Thornhill, Elton Yates, and Winton Yates. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lily Yates.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A gathering will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
