Ralph James Rodriguez, a native of Metairie, Louisiana passed away on September 14, 2023 at the age of 73. A lifelong resident of Louisiana, Ralph was born on August 19, 1950 to Joseph Kearny Rodriguez and Eunice Marie Rodriguez. On August 2, 1980 he married Cindy Walker, his loving partner for 43 years.
Ralph embodied the spirit of a true Louisianian and southern gentleman. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and all things that involved shooting sports. As a young man Ralph gained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scout of America. Ralph was one of the founding fathers and vice president of the Greater New Orleans Hunter Challenge Organization where he instructed young men and women for over 35 years. Ralph was a Louisiana Hunter Education Instructor and was involved with state and local hunter education programs.
Ralph attended East Jefferson High School and for over 30 years he was employed by the Monsanto Chemical Company in Luling, Louisiana where he retired as a vibration technician.
When not working or volunteering his time, Ralph loved to cook. He would share his food, recipes and stories about food with anyone who would listen.
Above all, Ralph was a devoted family man and friend to all who crossed his path. He was always there to help anyone and will truly be missed by all.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Cindy Walker Rodriguez, son Michael James Rodriguez, daughter Valerie Rodriguez Chatelain (Keith), granddaughter Hallie Marie Rodriguez, grandson Cameron Edward Chatelain, and great grandson Miles Baker Rotchford.
Ralph was preceded in death by his father and mother, Joseph Kearney Rodriguez and Eunice Marie Rodriguez, brother Michael J. Rodriguez, and daughter Shannon Lee Rodriguez.
Friends and family are invited to attend a service on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery and Mausoleum.
