Peter Paul Parrie

Peter Paul Parrie was born April 9, 1963 to Maria del Pilar Rojas Parrie and William Wade Parrie in Freeport, TX. On Tuesday, March 26, 2024 he passed peacefully after a cardiac arrest, surrounded by his children in Gulfport, MS.

Paul was a proud member of the Archbishop Rummel High School class of 1981 and was confirmed as a Catholic as a young parishioner of St. Clement of Rome in Metairie. He honored family tradition and served his country in the US Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1983.

A self-described “technosapien”, Paul translated the technical training he received in the Navy into an impressive and varied career as a technologist and entrepreneur. He worked for WWL TV, the Christian Broadcasting Network, Coastal Training Technologies and more in every role behind the camera and in the editing suite. He was a skilled member and leader of sports broadcast teams at all levels, from regional college events to Super Bowls.

Although his work brought him to places across the country, including Virginia and Colorado, he always considered the New Orleans area home. Throughout his life, he carried a special affection for Courtland St in Metairie where he grew up and forged lifelong friendships.

In 2007, Paul took a leading role in operations at the National World War II Museum, which he held for the next 15 years as the museum dramatically expanded in size and renown. Paul was a diligent force behind so many of the technical and architectural marvels that draw hundreds of thousands to the museum annually.

A talented and relentless athlete, he competed as a youth in football, wrestling, and track and field. In recent years he became a decorated pickleball player and coach, traveling the country with his Paddles Up teammates to win medals and make memories. Paul had a lifelong love of rock music and reading; Rush was his favorite band by a mile. In 2022, he made good on a decades-long dream and published his first novel, Ethan Park.

Paul leaves to cherish his memories his children, Eric, Courtney, and Will and their mother, Lizzie, as well as his grandchildren, Axel (7), Lula (4), and Bodhi (2). He is also survived by his brother, Jim and sister, Theresa, his beloved Aunt Pat and Uncle (“Uncle”), their children, Scott, Josh, Jason, and Kim, and his godmother, Honey, in addition to cousins, Rich, Margie, and Scott, dozens more cousins across Louisiana and close friends here and across the country.

Paul was preceded in death by his grandfather, Peter Paul Parrie, his grandmother, Edna Betrand Parrie, mother Pilar Parrie, and father Bill Parrie.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend services on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
