Paul Michael Zimmeramann passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack on October 6, 2022, while coming home from a business trip. He was 52 years old. He was born on January 4, 1970 to military parents in Vicenza, Italy and had dual Italian and American citizenship. Paul was a life long resident of New Orleans and he graduated from Holy Cross High school in 1988 where he made many lifelong friendships which are strong today. He continued his education at Louisiana State University where he was the Student Body President of the College of Engineering and Graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1992. There he met and fell in love with his wife, of 26 years, Louise. He continued his education after they were married at UNO recieving a 4.0 in his MBA Program.
Paul was a Professional Engineer and a Project Manager with his PE and PMP. He has been working in his field for almost 30 years and has worked for: WS Nelson Engineering Firm, Manager of Business Operations and a Manager of Engineering for Entergy New Orleans, Director of US Power Projects for Sumitomo Electric, Executie VP for Canzoneri and Associates, and he has worked for Quanta Services for many years as Director of Operations and previously as VP-NHPL and a Director of Business Development . Paul was also a member/ board member of IEEE and was a leader in the underground cable community, and ICC, world wide. He designed and patented an underground cable, to be used under the Mississippi River, in order for the cruise boats to have overhead clearance to access the port. He installed this underground cable on many jobs across the US including under San Francisco Bay and the Hudson River to name a few. This technology is the legacy of his career. Paul never met a stranger and he was a friend to all. He would frequently be seen on the job sight sweeping up in a hard hat to give the guys on the job a needed break. Paul's many accomplishments in his field are too numerous to list but Paul loved his career, and his work colleagues were his champions and friends.
Paul was a member of many church organizations including the Knights of Columbus. He was an assistant for the RCIA program at Holy Name of Jesus for many years. He was involved with many parent activities at Holy Cross and was an active member of the Father's Club. Paul was a member of many Mardi Gras organizations and Social Clubs. He loved to travel and spend quality time with his friends and family. He did not miss a Holy Cross football game and loved to watch Joey, his son, on the field. Paul attended numerous dance productions and performances for his two daughters, Cece and Katie, over the years. He was a wonderful father and husband. His family was everything to him and he was extremely proud of his three children.
Paul was preceded in death by his Grandparents: the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Zimmermann and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Stoltz. He was extremely saddened by by the recent loss of his beautiful mother Constance Golda Zimmermann.
Paul is survived by his wife Louise Browning Zimmermann and his three Children, Cecelia Frances Zimmermann, Catherine Marie Zimmermann, and Joseph Warren Zimmermann. He also leaves behind his father, Donald Jeff Zimmermann, husband of Constance Golda. Paul's in-laws are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Warren Browning of New Orleans. Paul had one sister, Gretchen Z. Lowe (Lee) and two brothers, Brad J Zimmermann (Jennifer) and Eric C Zimmermann (Kelly). Paul had many nieces and nephews: Steven, Anais (Matt), Gina, Anne, Julia, Caroline, Zoe, Zachary and a great nephew, David with baby girl Drago on the way. He will be missed by many members of his extended family as well as numerous friends.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery and Funeral Home 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, Louisiana 70124 on Saturday October 15, 2022. Visitation is from 10am to 1pm with a Funeral Mass at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please offer masses or make a donation to Holy Cross High School or the Catholic School of your choice in Paul's name
