On Sunday, April 25, 2021, Patsy Collins Adams passed peacefully surrounded by her family at the age of 78. Patsy was born in New Orleans on March 21, 1943. She was a life-long New Orleanian who graduated from Alice Fortier High School in 1960 and achieved a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Newcomb College in 1964 where she was a member of Alpha Omega Phi.
Her passion for art made her a one of a kind in the New Orleans art scene. She was Assistant Director of Galerie Simonne Stern for several years and a manager of The City Club of New Orleans in the Poydras Center downtown New Orleans. She then became the Executive Administrator and Gallery Director of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts (NOAFA) in 1985. Her talent, kindness and caring human qualities were a foundation and guiding force in the evolution of NOAFA.
Patsy was a gifted artist and an avid gardener who cherished nature and taking walks. Whether it was walking around the block, or taking a 10-12 mile walk to Audubon Park, she shared her smile to every beautiful flower and soul she encountered. Patsy was unconditionally devoted to her family, from swings at the park, to sushi at Sake or sailing at sunset; she was an amazing example of love and generosity. She was also a life-long member of the First Church of Christ, Science.
Patsy is survived by her two daughters, Brooke Collins Baker (Jeff Seruntine), Molly D’Aubert Baker; grandson, Chandler Collins Wynne; her husband, Leon “Charlie” Adams; and stepdaughters, Ashley Marie Adams and Sarah Adams Sinclair (Cayman and Sully). She is also survived by her brother, Walter Sherwood “Butch” Collins (Diane); nieces, Lauren Strigley (Larry) and Courtney Collins; and nephew, Sherwood Collins (Amy).
