and lifelong resident of Louisiana, Patrick was born in New Orleans to Muriel Alma Moody Rogan and Emerson Alfred Rogan on March 1, 1941. He graduated from Thibodaux High School in 1959 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Tulane University in 1963.He began his career as a chemical engineer at Chrysler Space Division, where he developed a unique sewage treatment system. He went on to co-found and co-own Southeast Applied Research, where he invented a patented process for industrial laundry wastewater recycling. From 1980 to 1996, Patrick worked as a deepwater systems engineer at Ocean Drilling and Exploration Company, where he distinguished himself in the field of blowout preventers and controls. Patrick designed a blowout system that is used on offshore drilling rigs throughout the industry.
Patrick was a mentor to many of his co-workers, helping them to understand troubleshooting techniques and excel in the subsea engineering field. He continued his innovative work
in blowout prevention and related subsea fields at Sonat Offshore, Smedvig America, Transocean Offshore, Diamond Offshore Drilling, Inc., and Noble Drilling Services.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ama Ford Darr Norfleet Rogan, and by his second wife, Lydia Elliott Hopkins. He is survived by his children, Ama Ford Darr Rogan, Davis Moody Emerson Rogan, John Michael Sims Rogan, and Alcena Madeline Davis Rogan, as well as by his stepchildren, Jessica Bridget White-Sustaita and Amanda Rachael White. He is also survived by his sister, Alicia Moody Rogan Heard, and by his eight grandchildren: Lucero, Nadin, Rogan, Felix, Ida, Rosalia, Ollie and Magdalena.Patrick¹s funeral service will be held on November 17 at 2pm at the Episcopal Chapel of the Holy Spirit at 1100 Broadway St. A reception at the Chapel will follow the service.
