Patricia Mattison Salatich

Patricia Mattison Salatich passed away peacefully on July 11, 2021 at the age of 88 in California. Loving mother of four children. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Schwieren (Bernd), Allison, and Stephanie; her grandchild, Elizabeth Mattison Schwieren; her sister, Lucia Mattison Heyerdahl; her brother, Richard Wallace Mattison; devoted cousin, Lorraine Harris Madison of St. Petersburg, Florida, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Patricia was born on March 30, 1933 to Richard Wallace Mattison and Shirley Beauchamp Mattison of Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of forty-five years, Dr. John Smyth Salatich; her son, John Smyth Salatich, Jr.; and her sister, Marilyn Mattison Jena.

Patricia was a graduate of Touro Infirmary School of Nursing and continued her post graduate studies at Loyola University where she was on the Dean’s List. She was a member of the New Orleans Country Club. She was an avid volunteer in New Orleans serving at Tulane Medical Center and as the President of the Hotel Dieu Ladies’ Auxiliary. Patricia had a passion for creative writing, fashion, interior design and fine art.

A lifelong resident of New Orleans until Katrina, Patricia relocated to California to be near her precious daughter, Elizabeth, and her darling grandchild, Mattison. There she was a member of the Interior Design Committee of Sun City where her house was selected to be on the Christmas tour of homes. She was a parishioner of St. Clare Catholic Church in Roseville, California. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard in New Orleans, on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 11:00AM. Interment will be private.

Her children are grateful for the tender care, love, and patience from her kind and dedicated hospice caregivers.
