Patricia Finney Daniels, of New Orleans, passed away peacefully in the arms of her family, on December 15, 2018. She was one month shy of her 90th birthday. Patricia was born January 17, 1929 to the late John G. Finney, Sr and Clara Giacomino Finney. She was proceeded in death by her husband Capt. James Louis Daniels, her daughter Bridget A. Daniels and her brothers, John G. Finney, Jr., Joseph P. Finney and Peter Paul Finney, Sr. She is survived by her children: James L. Daniels (Giselle) of Lafayette, LA; Capt. Patrick F. Daniels (Susan); Patricia D. France (Kevin-deceased) and Margaret D. Simon (Rene) of New Iberia and her brother, Thomas M. Finney (Mary). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Melissa D. Kronenberger, Lauren D. Faulk, Dr. Amanda Daniels, Molly F. Fernandes, Emily F. Poche, Patrick France and Aimee, James, Paul and Grace Simon; and five great grandchildren. Patricia graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1946 and received a B.S. degree in Medical Technology from Loyola University. She worked at the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office for over 50 years. Soft spoken, strong yet kind, she defied gender norms with grace and poise. Before Katrina, Patricia was a parishioner of St Dominic Parish and then returned to her family home in the French Quarter and was a parishioner of St. Louis Cathedral. Most recently, she lived with family members in New Iberia. Patricia will best be remembered for her love of travel and gardening. She relished her time knitting and had created a family heirloom Christmas stocking pattern from which she knitted over 100 stocking for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great and even great-great nieces and nephews. The family expresses our sincere thanks to Brenda Campbell, Sylvia Dejean and Fannie Hurst, who have taken this journey with us these past 3 years and have loved Mom like we loved her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Louis Cathedral, 615 Pere Antoine Alley, New Orleans, LA 70116, on Saturday, December 22, at 11 am. With public visitation beginning at 9 am. Interment will follow the services in Metairie Cemetery.
