Pamula Bowden Lanaux, aged 86, died on January 19, 2023, at Christwood Retirement Community in Covington, La. She was the daughter of Parmys Newsom and Lemuel Bowden. She was born in New Orleans and spent her childhood at the family home, Nebula in Tangipahoa, La. She graduated from Kentwood High School and went on to graduate from LSU in 1958.
She married her first husband, Howland Hayes in May of 1963 and remained married until his death in 1999. She married her second husband, Louis Lanaux, Jr in September of 2001, and remained married until his death in 2020.
She spent most of her career as an administrative assistant for various companies around the New Orleans area, where she fine-tuned her amazing organizational skills. She was a long-time, active member of Christ Church Cathedral where she was a Daughter of the King, a member of the Alter Guild, Hospitality Committee, a greeter and for several years served as the Dean’s Executive Assistant. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, traveling and she loved to entertain family and friends for holidays, various events and Mardi Gras.
She is preceded in death by two husbands: Howland Hayes and Louis Lanaux, Jr, step brother Jondon Shilg, and step daughter Hilary Hayes.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Hayes and eight step children; Webster Hayes, Melissa Hayes English, Eugenie Knowles, Lucinda Guillot, Louis Lanaux, III, Jean Paul Lanaux, Lisette Stanley, and Jo Ann Johnson and many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Christ Church Cathedral on Friday, January 27th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) in her name would be appreciated.
