Norman James McCord, Sr. passed away on January 1, 2016 at the age of 87. Beloved husband for 66 years to June Simpson McCord, loving father of Norman J. McCord, Jr. (Rhonda) and Patricia McCord Lovelady (Steve). Grandfather of Kelly McCord Waltz (Jody) and Jessica Lovelady. Great Grandfather to Jackson M. Waltz. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends. Son of the late James A. McCord and Hazel N. McCord. Norman was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and attended SLU for one year when he was drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates. After a short stent in baseball he returned to New Orleans where he worked for 33 years for the United States Department of Agriculture when retired in 1984.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 9:00AM. Burial Private.
