Melba Kaufmann Kirchem

Melba Kaufmann Kirchem, born September 30, 1919, a lifelong resident of New Orleans passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011. Preceded in death by her parents, Louise and George Kaufmann, Sr., her son, Kenneth William Kirchem, and her siblings, Dorothy Hupin and George Kaufmann, Jr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lurline Kirchem, granddaughters, Danelle and Colleen Kirchem, great granddaughters, Skye and Sierra Dashner and Lolette McDonald, her niece, Cathy Dupuy and her sister-in-law, Barbara Kaufmann. She enjoyed a long career as school secretary at John A. Shaw Elementary. After retiring from NOPS, she had the opportunity to travel extensively while working at Universal Travel Agency. She was an exceptionally devoted and active member of Claiborne Presbyterian Church and was also very involved with the Bethany Home,

A funeral will be held at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Guest book may be signed on line at www.schoencanalstreet.com.
