

Marylee Kemp Schmidt passed away February 26, 2022. She had two long and loving marriages, first to Alvin Schroeder Heumann (Abbie), then to Theodore Louis Schmidt (Teddy). She was a warm and wonderful mother who always encouraged her sons: A. Kemp Heumann, Guy Scott Heumann, Alvin S. Heumann Jr., and E. Nelson Heumann.
Marylee was born in New Orleans August 20, 1925 to Rosalie Lemieux Kemp (Mimi) and Stanley Kemp (Didi). After her children were old enough, she went back to college, graduating magna cum laude in mathematics from Loyola University of New Orleans. She then worked at the Whitney Bank, becoming their first female vice president. Marylee loved being with her family and relatives and was a loyal friend. She enjoyed traveling, living a year in Barcelona with her family while touring around Europe. After her retirement, she and Teddy often made trips to visit their children, and they also enjoyed traveling with her beloved sisters, Joan and Margie and their husbands. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed their home, they moved to Chattanooga.
Marylee was a devout Catholic whose faith gave her strength throughout her life. Marylee is survived by her son A. Kemp Heumann and his children Tracy Cendoya (Juan), Jennifer Civello (Dr. Kenneth), Debby Carson (Tom) and Kimberly Avans (Christopher), plus great grandchildren; her son E. Nelson Heumann (Louisa Baur), and their children Annika Heumann, Alvin S. Heumann III, and Robbie Heumann; stepdaughter Meg Allen (Christopher), and their children Carolyn McElhaney (Richard) and Charlie Allen (Tegan), stepdaughter Carolyn Hentschell (Mark) and their children Allie Hentschell and Jack Hentschell, and stepson Richard Schmidt. She is also survived by her sisters Joan Bringaze and Margie Case plus their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, including godchild Marylee Bringaze. A joint funeral will be held for Marylee and Teddy on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
