Mary Forte Shea passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from Multiple Myeloma in Metairie, LA. She was 88 years old. She was married to Paul C. Shea for more than fifty years before he was called to heaven.
Mary always kept a nice flower garden. She loved a good road trip, but with Paul doing all the driving. I’m not sure if she was the navigator or was happy to sit back and enjoy the sights.
She was an avid collector. The collections that interested her most included dolls, 1984 World’s Fair, and the Space Race.
Mary’s passion was genealogy. Mary and Paul spent many hours together searching the history of both of their families. Their research included libraries, in person interviews and searching for relatives in grave yards across the country.
Mary is survived by two children, Paul E. (Cheryl) and Julie S. Barthel (late Henry), one sister, Gail Cazayoux (Noel), four grandchildren, Kevin Barthel (Melissa), Robyn Barthel, Matthew and Daniel Shea. She also leaves behind two great grandsons, Carson and Grayson Barthel.
Memorial services will be private.
