Mary Alice Caire Romero on Saturday, November 29, 2014. Beloved wife of Rick Romero. Loving mother of Christopher Bassil and Taylor Romero, and mother-in-law of Kelly Bassil. Adoring grandmother of Gretchen and Johnny Bassil. Beloved daughter of Wanda “Pie” Gendron Caire and the late Dr. Roland A. Caire, and daughter-in-law of Mary Romero and the late Henry Romero, Sr. Sister and sister-in-law of Dr. Roland “Butch”, Jr. and Gwen Caire; Vida “Doodie” and Rick Crocker; Douglas and Rosemary Caire; Wanda and Jerry Muhs; Jane and Paul Fields; Nancy and Greg Giacone and the late Gregory Caire. Sister-in-law of Betty Parker, Gale and Mark Doucet, Judy and Daniel Scott, Rodney Romero, and the late Henry Romero, Jr. Also survived by loving nieces, nephews and special friends.

Mary Alice was born in El Paso, TX, on January 22, 1960 and grew up in Metairie and was most recently a resident of Youngsville, LA. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1978. She reigned as Queen Zeus XX during the Carnival season of 1977. She was also a member of CHRP at San Juan del Rio Catholic Church when she lived in Jacksonville, FL. Mary Alice overcame many medical challenges and was an inspiration to all. She gave her time, talent and creativity to so many especially to her children and grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 1:00PM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral home from 10:30AM until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to either the Louisiana Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 9457 Brookline Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA, 70809 or the National Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, 8200 Hampson St, New Orleans, LA, 70118.
