Mary Etta Hall Marrero passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 surrounded by her family. Mary Etta was born on November 12, 1948 at Touro Hospital in New Orleans, the daughter of Proctor Mark Hall, a preachers kid from Mulberry, Florida and Lucia von Kowalski Prymke, a gymnast on the 1936 Polish Olympic Team, who met at the Nuremberg War Trials. Mary Etta grew up in Metairie and lived in Kenner for the past 30 years. She graduated from Riverdale High School, Class of 1966 and obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from LSUNO in1971. After working at Charity Hospital, Mary Etta decided to attend the Charity School of Anesthesia, graduating in1976. While working as a pediatric anesthetist at Children’s Hospital, she met the love of her life, Robert Marrero, at a singles luncheon at First Baptist Church of New Orleans in July 1982. Seven months later Mary Etta and Bob were married. Mary Etta and Bob have three children, Lara Marrero Guidry (James), Victoria Marrero Ward (Jason), and Robert L. Marrero, Jr. and two grandchildren, Audrey and Alina. Mary Etta was for many years the Mother Advisor at Metairie assembly No. 70, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a Masonic Order. On June 11, 2015 friends and relatives are invited to attend a visitation at First Baptist Church, 5290 Canal Blvd., New Orleans, La from 9am until 11am, with the funeral service starting at 11am. After the funeral, those who wish can procession with the family for the interment at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church, 1803 Lee’s Creek Church Road, Bogalusa, La. She has now crossed over the river and rests under the shade of the trees.
