In 1952, the Stumpf family moved to Venice, LA where Stumpf’s IGA was born. The entire family at one time or another operated the well known area grocery until Hurricane Katrina devastated that area. At that time, Pontchatoula, LA became her temporary home.
Marlene is survived by her sons James (Shelta) Turnage and Kevin (Gina) Turnage of Lafayette; her daughter Denise (James) Massey of Waveland, MS. Also grandchildren Dennis, Kristen, Katherine, Eric, Meghan, Jordan, Gordon, and Matthew. Greatgrandchildren, Anthony, Zaiden, Link, Gabriella, George, William and Nicholas. Step-grandchildren Lisa, Mamie, Carlos, David, Maria, Pamela, and James, Jackson, Hunter, Brice, Cole, Payton, Peyton, and Ian.
Her brothers Clifford, Kenneth, Wayne and Rodney Stumpf and their spouses Bonnie, Lynn, and Becky and sister-in-law Mary Lynn.

Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48 years, George S. Richards, a brother, Dennis Stumpf, and a sister-in-law Magie Stumpf.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend services on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
