Marie Goolsby Upshaw of Bush, LA passed away on Monday October 29, 2018. She was born on November 10, 1919 in Live Oak, Florida to Charles and Minnie Goolsby.
Marie is survived by her grandchildren Michael Upshaw (Vanessa), Melanie Upshaw Baze (David), Stephen Upshaw (Danielle), John Upshaw (Tara), and Brian Upshaw. She is also survived by a host of great grandchildren.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband Raleigh White Upshaw and her sons Michael Upshaw, Charles “Pat” Upshaw and Stephen Upshaw her parents Charles and Minnie Goolsby, her brothers Charles Goolsby and O’Neal Goolsby and her grandson Joseph Patrick Upshaw.
Marie spent her life caring for others. Her generosity and selflessness defined her. She was a nurse by trade and made certain the doctors she encountered knew what they were doing. Her later years were spent reminiscing of good times with family and the silly things her boys used to do.
A private family service will be held on November 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mrs. Upshaw to be made to Northshore Families Helping Families.
