She was born in New Orleans in 1937 to the late Dr. Howard R. Mahorner and Stella Harang Hebert Mahorner. She attended Louise S. McGehee School LSU, and Newcomb College. She grew up in New Orleans before moving to Birmingham, Michigan where she worked as a Medical Technologist. Marie retired to New Orleans in 1998.
She is survived by her sons Thomas Glennon (Glen) Carbone (Hong Kong) and Howard Mahorner Carbone (Alaska). Howard and wife Noelle have two children, Theodore and Celia. Glen and wife Flor have one child, Natalie Marie. She is also survived by sisters Stella Ann Mahorner and Elizabeth Howard Mahorner Landis (James), and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Marie loved music, travel, nature, bridge, reading, and spending time with friends. She was known for her quick wit and was a beloved member of the Lambeth House community. Most of all, she loved her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Tuesday, April 17 from 2-4 pm at Lambeth House, 150 Broadway St., New Orleans. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
