Maria Hortensia Diaz

Maria is survived by her adoring spouse of 49 years, D. Mauricio Diaz; daughter Giselle Eastlack (Edward); son Mauricio Diaz; sister Maria Martha Pinel (Miguel Abraham); grandchildren Tyler, Blake, James, Lilyana, and Aleena; many cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces/nephews and devoted friends in Louisiana as well as her native home of Honduras. She is also survived by her second family, the many employees of Diaz LLC whom she loved. Maria was preceded in death by parents Pedro Aniceto Molina and Maria Hortencia Molina; sister Judith Esperanza Molina; and brothers Dr. Guillermo Molina and Ramon Victor Molina.

Born in San Marcos de Colon, Choluteca, Honduras, Maria moved to the United States with her husband in 1974 starting a family and building a beautiful and full life she truly cherished. Along with her husband, she proudly owned and operated Diaz Markets convenience stores, where the culture of "The Diaz Difference" she helped implement became synonymous with excellent service and commitment to the community. Maria was known for her strong faith in God, devotion to family and kind smile. She will be deeply missed by all.

A visitation for Maria will be held Friday, March 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, Louisiana 70005, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
