On January 24, 2016, our Lord and Savior called Marguerite Nelson to her home in Heaven. She was born in Destrehan, LA on August 16, 1922 to the late Anna Bossier Clement and Richard Clement. Preceding her in death was her husband of only 16 years John Walter Nelson, her brother Joseph and sisters Dorothy Lowry and Marie Liles. Survivors include her daughter Susan Avis (Ward), her sister Barbara Triche, numerous nieces, nephews as well as great and great great nieces and nephews. Marguerite was a resident of River Ridge since January 1960 and had resided at Sunrise of Metairie senior living since June 2014. She worked for the Kenner Police Department and was a legislative assistant to the late Eddie Doucet. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Canon Hospice and Sunrise of Metairie for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 12:00 NOON. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the American Heart Association.
