Margaret Mayeux Kinler, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on February 23, 2018 at the age of 73. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Kinler, and her parents, Donald and Gladys Mayeux. Margaret is survived by her daughters Kelli Gustafson (Jon) and Konni Larue (Chris); sons Douglas Kinler (Monique) and Brian Kinler (Steven Parker); grandchildren Lindsay and Annie Gustafson, Jack and Clay Kinler, Gabe, Colby, and Bray Larue; and brothers Don, Andre, and Phil Mayeux.
Margaret grew up in Mamou, Louisiana, attended the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana and Maryville College in St. Louis, Missouri. Margaret learned to play the piano and guitar at a young age and lived her life surrounded by music. She taught piano to her children and to many other kids in Terrytown and helped lead the children’s choir at Christ the King Grammar School. She volunteered for many years at nursing homes in New Orleans, performing standards from the 40s and 50s. Margaret showed off her amazing musical talent and spunky personality in the mid-80s when she formed “The Dizzy Dames” duo and began entertaining at parties, school fairs, and retirement communities. She was always the life of the party and filled her house with music and laughter. More than anything, Margaret loved playing the piano and singing for her husband as her children and grandchildren danced along. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
