Maire Caitlin "Mary Kate" Olsen

Maire Caitlin “Mary Kate” Olsen passed away in a tragic auto accident on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the age of 26. Mary Kate was born on March 22, 1991 in New Orleans. She graduated high school from Riverwood International School in Sandy Springs, GA (’09) and went on to earn her BA in Theatre from Loyola University New Orleans (’13). She was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Metairie LA, as well as St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Woodstock GA, and was a choir member, soloist, and cantor of both congregations. Mary Kate was truly a magical girl; a singer, dancer, and actress who spread laughter and sunshine everywhere she went, and will be greatly missed by all who were touched by her spirit. In her own words, “There’s a little bit of Magic inside everyone, just be sure to share your Magic with someone else.”

Mary Kate is survived by her parents Sven (Skip) and Kathleen Olsen; sister Erin Olsen; brother Sean Olsen; maternal grandfather Arthur G. Kingsmill; and paternal grandparents Michael and Ruth Olsen; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Jane McGee Kingsmill.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Rd, Metairie, LA 70005. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to mass beginning at 9:00 AM until time of service.
