Magan was preceded in death by his parents, Kanji and Jamku Kansagra; his sister, Shanta Hirani; and his brother, Bhanji Kansagra.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ansuya Kansagra; his daughter, Amy Reddy (Manoj Reddy); his son Kevin Kansagra (Azzy Soleymani); his brother, Gopal Kansagra; and his grandchildren, Shivani and Shaan Reddy, and Naveed and Kian Kansagra.
Magan was born in Limbuda, India on August 1, 1943. He was a graduate of Tulane University, where he earned his M.S. degree in engineering. He started his own consulting engineering business; a career he truly loved. His interests included reading the daily newspaper and keeping up with the stock market. He also enjoyed many visits and vacations with his children and grandchildren, including annual beach trips and visiting family and friends in the U.S. and India. He was on the Board of Directors of the Hindu Temple Society of New Orleans and sponsored an eye camp in his home village of Limbuda, India. Magan loved food… from Indian Gujarati food and sweets to New Orleans favorites, like beignets, poor-boys, and pecan pie. He was an avid fan of New Orleans Saints football.
The immediate family would like to extend their special thanks to the many family members and close friends during this difficult time. Magan was truly surrounded by a caring and compassionate community of family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and service in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 8:45AM until 10:45AM.
The family humbly requests that in lieu of flowers, please send donations in Magan’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans.
