A wonderful father and loving husband, Lyle built his life around a close-knit family and decades-old friendships. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, parents, sister, and nieces. He loved the Rolling Stones, Prince, The Beatles, and numerous other bands whose records he played much too loud. He also loved LSU football and gymnastics, the Red Sox and sometimes the Celtics, and Mardi Gras (especially Thoth rides). Quiet but hilarious, Lyle’s tight network included friends from his time at Jesuit and his Bruno’s bartending days.
Lyle worked as Controller at Crane Rehab Center after earning Accounting and Management undergraduate degrees at the University of New Orleans. He had recently earned his CPA license.
He leaves behind his wife Erin, daughter Cecily, and son Lennon. Lyle is also survived by his parents, LJ and Cheryl Schilling, sister Lorie Schilling, nieces Ashley and Lauren Schilling, cousin Jared Civello, and uncle Bruce Civello. Lyle was preceded in death by his brother, Lance.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 10 am to noon at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie, LA. A Catholic Mass will begin at noon, with a private burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Cecily and Lennon’s college savings funds are greatly appreciated.
