Lydia Gonzalez Sanchez

Lydia Sanchez, 83, of New Orleans, was taken into the presence of our Lord at 9:00 AM, Sunday, June 28, 2015. She was born August 29, 1931 in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Jose and Crescencia Gonzalez of Puebla, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Maria Angelina Gonzalez and her son Ricardo Sanchez.

Lydia Sanchez was survived by her two sons, Joaquin Sanchez and Paul Sanchez; and her three daughters Raquel Sanchez, Deborah Sanchez and Dorcas Aebi.

Lydia (Nani) was the beloved grandmother of Jason and Natalie Jones; Heather and Jason Stephens; Josef and Dee Schibanetz; Hans Schibanetz and Abbie Thomas; and Isaac Aversano.

Her great grandchildren Alexis, Aidan, Lucas, Chase, Joaquin, Ramona, Zade, Dury, Demi, Keaton and Holden were a source of constant joy.

Lydia devoted much of her life to the music ministries at the Baptist Church (La Primera) where she worshiped since her childhood. She also enjoyed teaching English as a Second Language.

A memorial service, officiated by the Rev. Aroldo Vargas, will be held at First Spanish American Baptist Church, (Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispano Americana) 1820 Sophie Wright Pl, New Orleans LA, 70130 on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
