

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Lillie J. Hilliard, sisters, Verna H. Cousin, and Letha L. Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Betty A. Hilliard; sister, Vera L. Parks (William); children, Yvonne Herbert, Luther Ray Hilliard Jr., Reginald A. Hilliard (Sylvia), Deidra R. Hilliard, Terrence Hilliard, Angela T. Robinson; step-son, Terry Jackson, and step-daughter, Debbie J. Moore (A. Wade); grandchildren, Kamiesha Kay Hilliard, Luther Ray Hilliard III, Destri S. Anderson, Daron J. Anderson, Sierra T. Green (Kelvin), Ebony M. McDowell, Willie J. Robinson Jr., Darrel J. Green Jr. (Tamara), Daniel J. Moore (Tianna), Terrence Johnson, Terry Johnson, Terrae M. Jackson; great-grandchildren, Jayde Jewel, Anela Jewel, Joy Anderson, Antwan Pollard, Aaliyah Green, Darian Beshears II, Camryn Green, Dakota Johnson, Valentino Green, Giovanna Green, and Sevyn Moore. He is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friends.
Luther passed away leaving a legacy of love and faith. He attended Gilbert Academy, graduating in 1949. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict for 4 years, then enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he dedicated 20 years of his life before retiring in 1968. As a military veteran he served honorably.
He was known for his unwavering love for his family and his deep-rooted biblical values, with Proverbs holding a special place in his heart. His passion for cooking, zest for life and joy with his beloved Betty and family were evident in every aspect of his being. His kindness and affectionate nature touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Luther will be remembered for his warm presence, entertaining stories, quick wit, generosity, and ever-present reliability. He will be deeply loved and greatly missed.
May he rest in eternal peace, and may his memories bring solace to all who knew and loved him.
