Louis Magne Reese, Jr. passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at the age of 56. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 1, 1967. Louis graduated from Marion Abramson High School and was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He went on to join the United States Air Force Reserves, Security Forces for 28 years earning the rank of Master Sergeant. For the past 11 years he was a Police Office with the United States Marine Corps. Louis was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church and member of the St. Clement of Rome Men’s Club. Louis loved Mardi Gras and was vice president of Spartan Society Carnival Krewe. He was an avid Saints and Tulane football fan.
Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Tara Lee Centanni Reese; children Maximus Charles Reese and Maylee Margaret Reese; mother Pamela Alloy Brown (Paul); stepbrother Justin Reese and stepsister Jessica Reese; mother in law Marilyn Centanni and brother in law Kevin P. Centanni. He is also survived by 4 nephews, 1 niece, 2 great-nephews, and 3 great-nieces.
He is preceded in death by his father Louis M. Reese, Sr.; sister Lynley Marie Reese Brown and brother Leigh Michael Reese who passed away less than 24 hours after Louis.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and doctors at Veterans Administration Hospital, New Orleans, especially Dr. Zane Kirby, Dr. Aaron Klinger, Dr. Jodie Layton, Loretta Strachan, Ken Weisgarber, Eunice Benson, Robin, Rome and Ada Marion as well as Dr. Apostolia Tsimberidou and Alexandria Doerfler at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans on Friday, June 16, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated by Rev. Luis Rodriguez at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the Event Center of the funeral home. Interment on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. in the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, Louisiana. Everyone is encouraged to wear Saints, Mardi Gras, or Tulane attire.
