Louis Philippe de V. Larue, born March 15, 1927 in New Orleans, died peacefully at home among family on Monday, February 19, 2018. He was the son of the late Ferdinand Louis de V. Larue and Corinne Bonnecaze Larue and was married to Isabel Carre’ Gardner August 16, 1952.
He is survived by sister Marie-Therese Larue Dwyer of Easton, Md, and was predeceased by sisters Kitty L Mahaffey of Saratoga, Ca, and Suzanne Larue of New Orleans, and brothers Ferdinand L Larue, Jr, of Lafayette, La, and the Rev Charles J Larue of Odessa, Tx.
Survivors also include his children Michel Preston Larue (Kathy) of Richmond, Va, Susan Ann Larue of New Orleans, Steven John Larue (Linda) of Richmond, Va, Paul Louis Larue (Karlyn) of Denham Springs, La, and Christopher Edouard Larue (Frances) of Lafayette, La, and grandchildren Rachel Larue of Alexandria, Va, Philip Larue of Richmond, Va, and Irene, Emily, Sarah, Joseph and Helen Larue of Denham Springs.
Mr. Larue graduated from Jesuit High School and Tulane University, where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the 13th and 82nd Airborne in World War II and was a pilot in the 3rd Infantry Division in Korea. He was a Systems Engineer for IBM for over 35 years. One of his favorite pastimes was taking pictures particularly of family and friends. He was an active member of St. Andrews the Apostle Church for 50 years and served as a co-captain for retreats at Manresa House.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, La 70124 on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 1:00PM. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon until service time. A burial will be held at a later date for immediate family.
