Linda Su Wise

Linda Su (Lohrmann) Wise, 75, of Metairie, Louisiana, died Monday, August 12, 2024. Her funeral will be held at Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, MO, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, followed by interment, Rev. David Frerichs officiating.

Born August 16, 1948, in Lewiston, MN, she was the daughter of Hugo and Thelma (Hensler) Lohrmann. On July 27, 1974, she married James Murray Wise, who pre-deceased her.

Their two daughters E. K. “Katze” Wise, LA, and Alison K. Wise, SC, and granddaughter Ellie M. Collis, SC, survive her.

Also surviving are siblings Wayne (Mary) Lohrmann, Bothell, WA; Jared Lohrmann, Dickenson, TX; Diana (John) Schramm, Tacoma, WA; Rev. Marcus (Heidi) Lohrmann, Sylvania, OH; John (Linda) Lohrmann, Walla Walla, WA; Gloria (Charles) Austerberry, Omaha, NE; and Julia (Calvin) Tousignant, Livingston, TX; twenty-three nieces and nephews; thirty-nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and many dear cousins and friends.

Linda Wise obtained her BA in education from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, IL, in 1970 and her MA in school psychology from Georgia State in Atlanta in 1975. She taught six years at Faith Lutheran School in Marietta, GA, worked in student testing at schools in Mesa, AZ, and Columbia, MO, served as a guidance counselor and taught at various school systems in the US and Saudi Arabia. She loved to read, and she traveled extensively in the US, Canada, Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Europe, China, and Turkey. She and her young family lived some years in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, rising to the many challenges involved.

She faithfully served our Lord, teaching in Lutheran day schools and Sunday Schools, administering Vacation Bible Schools, and addressing social needs in the communities where she lived. Most recently, she volunteered in the lunch feeding program at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Orleans, LA.

The family asks that gifts in her memory be sent to the Community Table Project of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Orleans, LA, or The Humane Society of New Orleans.
