On January 31, 2025, at the age of 83, Linda Gallagher Giroir passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 13, 1941, in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene Michael Giroir whom she was married to for 55 wonderful years, her parents, James Joseph Gallagher, Jr. and Ruth Devine Gallagher.
Linda is survived by her 4 loving daughters; Lisa Giroir Gaspard (David), Laura Giroir Duffy (Darren), Leslie Giroir Mathews (David) and Lynette Giroir (John); her brother James Joseph Gallagher, III; her adoring grandchildren, David Mathews, Jr. (Julie), Katie Biossat (Jonathan), Ross Macaluso (Madison), Kyle Bencsek, Jessica Peltier, Patrick Duffy (Hannah), Ryan Mathews, Bryce Duffy (Katherine), Rory Rousset (Natalie), Sara Gaspard and Abbey Fauntleroy (Josh); her great grandchildren Gabriel Biossat, Christian Biossat, Joseph Mathews, William Duffy, Blythe Macaluso, Natalie Mathews, Lainey Fauntleroy, Luke Fauntleroy and great grand baby Thomas Duffy due to arrive early spring 2025.
Linda enjoyed being surrounded by her cousins and extended family as they reminisced about the good old days while singing Irish songs together. She was also an avid Saints and Pelican fan.
Linda loved Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day, being known as the mom who had a station wagon full of kids, chasing parades from Chalmette to New Orleans. She was the mom known by all as she took pride in being involved in every aspect of their lives from Mother’s club, fair committee, volunteering in the school cafeteria, substitute teacher, field trip chaperone, sports spectator and always willing to be a team chauffeur. She also loved living on the water where she had access to the freshest seafood in town.
Linda was a member of Venetian Isles Garden Club since 1985, St. Nicholas of Myra Altar Society, Epsilon Sigma Alpha and was the recipient of the St. Louis Medallion for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Linda loved arts and crafts, ceramics, china painting, Mahjong, Canasta and Bridge. She also looked forward to luncheons with her Mt. Carmel Alum and Garden Club.
The family would like to thank Notre Dame Hospice and Linda’s wonderful sitters for their loving care and support with special thanks to her sitter, Duffie, who had been by her side for many years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Friday, February 7, 2025. Visitation begins at 11:00 am followed by a mass at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
