Lawrence Stephen Dorsa passed away peacefully at home on March 13, 2021, at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Beverly Genovese Dorsa of almost 60 years. Son of the late Theodore Joseph Dorsa, Sr. and Helen May Richaud Dorsa. Father of Cynthia Ann Dorsa-Caire (Vincent), Michael Stephen Dorsa and David Brian Dorsa (Kelly). Also survived by three grandchildren: Rachel Marie Caire, Robyn Jeannette Caire (Shaun-Fiancé) and Vincent Paul Caire, Jr. Brother of the late Theodore Joseph Dorsa, Jr. (Nancy) and the late Robert Luis Dorsa (Infant). Brother of Ruth Dorsa Fontenelle. Brother-in-law of Donald Genovese (Karen). Also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Lawrence was a retired insurance executive. He was President of Dorsa Associates, Inc., President of First Financial Insurance, Inc. and Vice President of N. E. England & Associates, Inc. Born in New Orleans and a resident of Metairie, Kenner and La Place. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in 1950 and received his B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana College in 1958. Lawrence enjoyed traveling the world with his family (Over 40 Countries), playing GOLF, putting Jigsaw Puzzles together, attending Contessa Entellina’s Day at the Races and Christmas Banquets with his children and grandchildren, and ANY and ALL events that came up regarding his three children and three grandchildren. Lawrence was also President of Driftwood Park Country Club, Treasurer of Jefferson Genealogical Society, a Founding Member and Officer of the Argus Carnival Club, Secretary-Treasurer for the Contessa Entellina Society, Inc., and President of the Belle Terre Senior Men’s Golf Club. He was a Korean War Naval Veteran and a member of the USS Coral Sea Association.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will be held from 10am - 12pm with a Funeral Mass to begin at 12pm. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
