He is the proud grandfather of Colin Valsin Buttone, Samantha Dolores Buttone, Marissa Marie Buttone, and Hailey Kathryn Buttone. He is the former spouse of June Buttone Herberg of 28 years. He is the brother of the late Geraldine Mary Buttone Ahrens, the late Valsin John Salvador Buttone, and the late Valsin Anthony Buttone. He is the best friend of Sidney Duco Gerosa Sr. since grammar school. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Larry knew at a very young age that he had a passion for his Daddy’s profession. While most teens would sneak out of their parent’s house to party, Larry would go to the shop to make something out of wood. When his Daddy found out what he was doing, he decided that he should go ahead and teach him his trade so he didn’t hurt himself. He decided in the ninth grade that he no longer wanted to attend school, and his school counselor told his Daddy to let him work and maybe he will come back to school. He never returned to school and worked side by side with his Daddy. Acme Mill and Cabinet Works became known as the best in the custom millwork business. Many regard Larry as the best millman, but he would say that title was held by his Daddy.
Even though he moved to Abita Springs, he visited his friends in the parish every day. His routine included McDonald’s, Aaron’s Donuts, and Jeanfreau’s Restaurant. He was loved by many for his silly, goofy, corny jokes that he couldn’t complete the punch line because he had already started laughing. He was NEVER WRONG…..EVER……NO REALLY …… I’M SERIOUS ;-). You all have made an impact on his life, and by the special stories told to us, he has made an impact on yours.
