L’Ester LeFlore Ellis was born April 7, 1945, in Carthage, Mississippi to Ella Mae Gray “Shug” LeFlore and L. J. Leflore. She was one of six children - two sisters Linda and Annie Ruth and three brothers L.C., Neil and Sylvester. The family moved to New Orleans, Louisiana when L’Ester was age seven. She was baptized at the Church of God in Christ in New Orleans, Louisiana. L'Ester was educated in the New Orleans School System. Upon graduation she pursued a career as a Private Duty Home Health Aide. L’Ester united in holy matrimony to the late Napoleon Bufus Ellis. They were happily married for over 35 years until his death October 18, 1998. To this union two children were born Eric and Bruenetter. L’Ester LeFlore Ellis loved to cook, garden, and entertain family and friends. She and her sister Annie Ruth opened a small social club for the community to meet up and fellowship.
She is preceded in death by husband Napolean Bufus Ellis, parents Ella Mae Gray and L. J. Leflore, brother Sylvester LeFlore, sister Annie Ruth Joseph, brother-in-laws Freddie Joseph and Aldric Celestine and sister-in-law Maizette LeFlore. A very special companion of 20 years Bernard Francis. L’Ester Leflore Ellis departed this life at the age of 79 after a short illness. She transitioned February 19, 2024, 11:11 p.m. surrounded by family.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters Brenda Wilson, Fairfield, CA and Bruenetter Ellis, Morrow, GA; one son Mr. and Mrs. Eric Brack (Cathy), Slidell, LA; two brothers L. C. Leflore and Mrs. and Mrs. Neil LeFlore (Rose), New Orleans, LA; one sister Linda LeFlore Celestine, New Orleans, LA; nine grandchildren Mr. and Mrs. James Jones (Carmalita), Mr. and Mrs. Williams (Shelita), Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Smith (Crystal) Fairfield, CA, Deneria Ingram, Morrow, GA, Mr. and Mrs. Larry T. Dillon (Alisa), Austin, TX, Eric Brack, Jr., New Orleans, LA, Erica Brack, Hammond, LA, Brionne Brack, Jordan Brack, New Orleans, LA; twenty-three great grandchildren Sanai, Zarai, Cedric, Jr., James, III, Aliyah, Laylani, Ariel, Ada, Larry, III, Lexi Mae, Bailee Rae, Eric, III, Ethan, Aniyah, Jayden, Jaliyah, Jeremiah, Janaya, Jamaya, Malik, Maurice, Brittany, and Lawrion; one great great grandchild Amiyah; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
