

Kenneth Louis Mayeux lost his long battle with illness and peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 24, 2012. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 19, 1950. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Horace P. "Sonny" Mayeux, Shirley Rigaud Skorlich, and Milton "Mike" Skorlich. During the early 1970's, he served in the U. S Army as a medic while stationed in Germany. After graduating with a degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, Ken utilized his skills at fine dining New Orleans restaurants including Antoine’s and Commanders Palace. Chef Ken eventually took his culinary talents to El Paso, TX for 13 years before moving back "home". He was an avid SAINTS fan, enjoyed antiques, fast cars, and nature’s beauty, but most of all Ken loved his family and sharing times together. His keen sense of humor and numerous antics will forever be remembered. Those left to cherish his memory are his twin sons, Jason P. Mayeux (Jessica Tavarez), and Ryan M. Mayeux, grandson Jacob Kenneth Mayeux, and step-children Peter Mata and Rachel Barba Cantu, his sister Constance "Connie" M. LaFrance, brother-in-law Danny LaFrance, niece Michele LaFrance Detillier and nephew Rene P. LaFrance, along with aunts, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St.; on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 11:30 am.
