Kelly Newell

Kelly Marie Newell passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 34. She was born on April 20, 1989, to Charles and Susan Newell. Kelly was born in New Orleans at Baptist Hospital on Napoleon Avenue. Kelly moved with her family to El Dorado, Arkansas and then Plano, Texas. The family then moved to Mandeville when she was in first grade. Kelly graduated from Fontainebleau High School in 2007. She remained in the New Orleans area for the remainder of her short life and worked in the service industry. Kelly enjoyed working with plants, especially aloe plants, dancing and watching movies. She is survived by her parents, sister, Kristen Newell of Astoria, New York, and brother, Kurt Erickson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Visitation will be held for Kelly at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Donations in Kelly’s name can made to the New Orleans Women and Children’s Shelter; 2020 South Liberty Street, New Orleans, LA 70113.
